Breast augmentation is one of the most common procedures in cosmetic surgery.

We at cosmedico can offer our patients many choices when it comes to this procedure. We know that women want a choice where the implant is positioned and also are more informed about the type of implant they may have. They do not want to be streamlined into a type of implant or placement and position of implant by surgeons with limited flexibility. Patients want a choice. They are educated and well researched and not to be given a choice in 2010 is outdated.

In this regard, we can offer either the tear drop or the round shaped implant. The client can have a choice of surgery through the nipple, under the arm or in the more traditional method of under the breast. Some patients have also opted of the latest technique called dual plane which involves part of the implant going under the muscle and part over the muscle.

Women may choose to under go breast enlargement surgery for various reasons. These personal reasons may centre around breasts that are perceived to be under developed, or because of differences in the sizes of the breasts or from changes after pregnancy or breast feeding. Some women may be happy with their breasts but just want them made fuller.

Often after weight loss, aging or childbirth a woman's breast volume and shape may change. Breast enhancement using breast implants can give a woman more proportional shape and may improve self esteem.

The decision of your discharge lies with the Anaesthetist following your surgery. In the unlikely event that he wishes you to remain with us, we will make your overnight stay with us as comfortable as possible in our purpose built clinic. You will under no circumstances be sent home if you do not fit our discharge criteria.

We're sure you will be doing your research into clinics and surgeons who carry out this procedure. Please remember that it is vitally important that your surgery is carried out by a Plastic Surgeon. Ireland is not regulated and therefore any general surgeon can call him/herself a cosmetic surgeon and operate. There in thr region of 37 plastic surgeons in Ireland on the Irish Medical Council’s register and approx 6/8 of them just concentrate on the aesthetic (cosmetic) end of plastic surgery full time. We are very privileged therefore to have 4 of these highly experienced plastics surgeons working here at Cosmedico. Always ask for the registration of the surgeon and you can check the register of the surgeons online. Many clinics will tell you that they do have plastic surgeons but in fact this is not the case so please be very careful. More worrying is being told that you do not need a plastic surgeon, that cosmetic surgeons are equally qualified but we stress again to you that there is not formal training in cosmetic surgery other than the formal training in Plastic Surgery. This training usually entails surgical training for 10 years after a medical degree.
