FORGET concealer - plastic surgery is the best way to beat the onset of wrinkles - according to recent convert, Patricia Maria Ryan McDonald.

The glamorous Wicklow mum of one, who is in her mid-40s, voted to go under the knife for the neat sum of €5,000 when she began to feel down about the wrinkles in her forehead.

And she says that she doesn't for one second regret climbing onto the surgeon's table for a brow lift.

"It's absolutely incredible the results that you can get from surgery. I got it done six weeks ago and already the scars are impossible to see," she enthused.

"The great thing about this is that you look like yourself afterwards, a bit better maybe, but you are still you. I felt like my old browline made me look very cross beforehand -1 feel that I look a lot better now.

"I'm a lot less self-conscious now as well. I was always confident, but I think this has given me a new lease of life now. The surgeon even managed to get rid of an old scar for me - so I'm me, but a better me!"

Unlike the facelifts of old, Patricia opted to go for the brand-new endoscopic procedure at the Cosmedico Clinic - which meant she was in out and of surgery in less than three hours.

"I didn't even have to get a general anaesthetic," she said. "The surgeon literally made four incisions, two on my temples and two further up and worked from there. My hair was pushed back with gel - it didn't have to be shaved or anything.

AWAKE

"He was able to work on me while I was awake as well - I was talking to him for the whole time and he was explaining to me what he was doing. And it means that you only need minimal down-time. I was back on my feet in no time."

And Patricia, who works in the cosmetic surgery industry herself, says that she is a big believer in taking the plunge.

"I'm a big believer in facing things - and if something is bothering you about your appearance, then you should fix it.

"I don't think that it's a silly thing to do at all. If someone has buck teeth, they would see no harm in getting their teeth straightened, and this is the same.

"If something is sagging or not looking as good as it should, why not fix it if you can. It can make a huge difference to you and make you feel a lot better about yourself."
